My Janome Commission!

Over the past few years i have been working with Janome on a sponsorship basis and done a few commissions but the most amazing opportunity came my way when they approached me to do my biggest commission yet. This would help them promote their new Memory Craft 9900 and in turn also promote me!

This is my HUGE poof that i created for Janome!

And the finished advertisement......

February 2012!

I was amazingly lucky enough to be selected for the 2012 show! 6 pieces of my work were selected to be shown as the best of the latest graduates from all over the country which was amazing. This of course meant that i had an excuse to visit the fabulous city to see my work displayed in such an inspiring country........

Contemporary Textiles Fair 2012.... How it went

The Contemporary Textiles Fair was brilliant! As a newcomer i didn't know what to expect but what i found was an amazing amount of different ideas coming from all the stalls. It was brilliant to see so much diversity. I had allot of positive feedback....... even managed to sell a few pieces which boosted my confidence in my designs soooooo much. And as requested I'm going to post my designs on my blog so those who can't attend my shows can at least see what I'm all about.

Sorry about the quality of the photograph, I'd forgotten my camera and had to rely on my VERY old phone

The Blackpool Art Fair 2011

The Blackpool Art Fair is Grundy's biannual event that shines a spotlight onto some of the creative activity taking place across the Fylde coast, and a little further afield. They are attempting to create a small, vibrant community of creative in the gallery space; a place to cherish what might otherwise go unnoticed or undervalued.

As part of the fair, Grundy has invited Fylde residents and artists to exhibit one piece of their work in the gallery. I am honoured to be displaying one of my pieces in my home town as part of this wonderful fair. Blackpool has made me the artist i am today and The Grundy was the very first gallery i ever visited making this exhibition very special to me.

All the work displayed at the fair is for sale so if your looking for a one off piece you can take your pick of nearly 200 artists work.

Also happening on Saturday 19 November will be the Super Duper Fair, this year being held at Blackpool Winter Gardens and the switch on of Blackpool's christmas lights

Janome Memory Craft 350E!!!!!!

I am now the proud owner of the fantastic Memory Craft 350E machine my Janome who have loaned it to me for a year. I'm so made up by this as it has enabled me to further my work since leaving university and all the facilities there. I'd like to say a huge thank you to  Deborah Shepherd at Janome who revisited me at The Festival of Quilts after seeing my work at New Designers and enabled Janome to lend me such a vital machine to my work.

To say a big thank you!

Id like to say a huge thank you to the amazing Christine Smith and Barbra Bertram who were kind enough to buy my work. You have no idea how much it meant to me, it has made my confidence in myself and my work grow about a billion percent and i don't think I've stopped smiling since!

The Festival of Quilts was amazing!

The response from the public to my show was amazing! It was such a different space to what i had at new designers and i was completely on my own so it was a little scary at first but after setting up my first solo exhibition space i felt co confident in myself. I had so much positive response from my fellow exhibitors and the diverse range of quilters who flocked to the festival which really gave me the drive to see how far i can push myself to go the distance.

As you can see i did a lot of work before the festival to show different ways my work can be used. My favourite is my big round poof!

The Festival of Quilts!

11th- 14th August
NEC (Birmingham)
10.00am to 5.30pm (closes 5.00pm Sunday)

From exhibiting at New Designers i was selected as one of only 10 graduate students from across the country to exhibit my work at The Graduate Showcase taking place within The Festival of Quilts! I'm really excited as i will be given 4 times the amount of space i had for new designers and I'm doing it independently with no help from my tutors. Fingers crossed i pull it out the bag!

NEW DESIGNERS 2011!

I was one of the very luck few designers that were picked to exhibit at New Designers 2011 to represent Birmingham City University and i was sooooooooo excited! It was an amazing experience which i did not take for granted for one second. Speaking to different designers and visitors gave me so much and i had a little interest too!
